The anticipation is building as we look forward to dispensing some regulated democracy of our own when Helldivers 2 is released on PC and PlayStation later this year. Helldivers 2’s reveal had exactly the tone of Paul Verhoeven’s satirical sci-fi schlocker. If that sounds very much like Starship Troopers, then you’d be absolutely correct.

Two players can play on a PS4 with two others joining in on Vitas in the same room. The player is put in the super boots of a Helldiver and sent to hostile alien worlds to eradicate the perceived threat to Super Earth. It also supports cross save and cross play between the PS4, PS3, and PS Vita versions. Helldivers 2’s story sees an elite group of space-faring soldiers known as the Helldivers spread peace, liberty, and managed democracy across the universe the only way they know how with big guns and bigger military budgets than an entire continent. So we can expect to see some alien-slaying action with friends before the year is out. Join forces with up to four friends and wreak havoc on an alien scourge threatening the safety of your home planet, Super Earth, in this multiplayer co-op.
While it’s nothing concrete and clear, Sony and Arrowhead have the game penciled in for a 2023 release. A new rumor aims to shed light on Helldivers 2’s release date, as it now looks like the game will come out in October 2023. 12 seconds of a Helldivers 2 trailer makes its way to Twitter. The only thing more surprising than the reveal of Helldivers 2 was the tentative release date. Helldivers 2 is definitely real, and probably announcing soon.
